Research, design, and development.
The Internet of Things Research hub was formally founded in 2022. It was born to support the educational, research, and collaboration activities in the context of innovative IoT-oriented smart systems and applications.
It is a central hub for innovative research and collaboration activities with national and international company on IoT-based system design and deployment.
Interdisciplinarity is a key principle of all research activities. IoTResearch is formed by researchers (professors, PhD students, and post-docs), together with several Masters’ students.
The IoTResearch goal is move from theory to practice. The current research activities focus on IoT resource optimization, wireless sensor networks, context-aware IoT, IoT vulnerability analysis and penetration testing, IoT security, edge and cloud computing for IoT, Tiny Machine Learning, Federated Learning for IoT, and data analysis. Applications include smart homes, smart grid, e-Health, smart cities, environment monitoring, intelligent transportation systems, smart agriculture, smart factory and industry, smart energy, Internet of drones, UAV, SCADA systems, etc.
IoTResearch is colocated in the IoT laboratory of University of Salerno, which includes 46 workstations equipped to support research and development activities. The equipment of the laboratory is composed by more than 350+ IoT/edge nodes supporting heterogeneous connectivity and sensing capabilities.
Defining complex testbeds with different node and sensor types, topologies and environments for coveraging of a wide range of real-life use-cases.
